The “Visual Haiku”
Every city vibrates with energies from different people, cultures, and geography. To capture this beauty within a “visual haiku”, is both my challenge and my meditation. The haiku is a very short poem originating in Japan in which resides a scope and depth embodying the human experience. Its beauty lies in the ability to describe the sights, emotions, and time of a given moment, all in the briefness of 17 syllables. Just as in art, the haiku is left ambiguous, expecting the reader to complete it with a personal interpretation. The many aspects of a place and its people emerge having the power to influence and transform. This complex relationship reflects where we’ve been, who we are, and what we may become.
